As soon as I started to read this book, I was able to put it into practice, which was hugely rewarding for me as a parent to 3 children, and it has continued to be a lot of fun for my children, who enthusiastically respond to the questions even though they have no idea of my intent!

My two youngest children are KS 2 and 3 and it’s been a really positive way to build on their curiosity about a whole range of topics in a more structured way. The book is packed full of tips and it’s made me see the areas that my 10 year old son needs help and how I can do that. He is demanding on my time with school work and, with an older daughter heading into a final GCSE year and being a working parent, I really feel time supporting my middle daughter (13) has been neglected. So the tips on how to encourage Critical Thinking for 13 year olds has been particularly invaluable to me, already I’m able to talk about things my daughter enjoys: politics, the war, Minecraft and conspiracy theories – and draw out some really useful discussions! It shown me how to re-engage with her at a time she needs it the most to build her confidence and learning.

I would highly recommend this book – an enjoyable read, hugely informative and practical from an author with so much experience teaching and parenting. It’s been a timely reminder of how I can help and encourage my children, ensure they flourish, whilst juggling work and family life!
